On Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th February, industry experts, celebrities and the public will be able to see some of the finest in ethical jewellery.
At an exclusive side-venue to the main catwalk, in Old Bond Street, Natalie Perry, Rock Hound, Ute Decker and CRED Jewellery will be exhibiting a range of designer pieces. Reflecting a shift in public awareness to ethical, fair fashion, the Fairtrade Foundation comments on this occasion;
David Finlay, says; “For years Fairtrade and some very committed jewellers have fought for a position on the catwalk, and now is their chance to shine. We are pleased to support this event as it creates a platform for showing the best of bold British design, including a wide range of pieces made in Fairtrade Gold. For every gram of gold bought on Fairtrade terms, there will be a ripple effect down the supply chain. This is the year for ethical jewellery and fashion to come to the fore.”
The variety of jewellery on show from these four UK based Fairtrade Gold licensees illustrates how the sector is bounding into bold, on trend and inspiring design to rival the fashion favourites.
The award winning [1] Natalie Perry evokes bohemian elegance in her sophisticated pieces designed and made in England from Fairtrade Gold. Everyday luxury jewellery inspired by the stories she has collected on her travels.
Rock Hound builds statement pieces from a statement base. Ethics are at the heart of this East London gemologist and gold sourced for their unique items comes from small-scale artisanal gold mines certified by Fairtrade.
Ute Decker’s minimalist architectural formed jewellery is also a prize winner across the board and will be at home alongside fsahion’s most on trend. Uniquely delicate and strong at the same time, Ute Decker designs have won international acclaim [2].
CRED Jewellery was one of the pioneers of lab grown diamonds and fore-runner of ethical jewellery with their emphasis on Fairtrade Gold. Beautiful, classic pieces and a new MACDESA collection from certified mines in Peru will be on display.
