Fairtrade International announces new executive governance structure

Fairtrade International has restructured its governance structure implementing a single-leadership model to lead the global organisation and its members. The change is effective immediately.

Under the single leadership model, the current roles of the Global CEO and Executive Director were replaced by a Managing Director who will report to the Fairtrade International Board of Directors.

This change will streamline decision-making and accountability for both Fairtrade International and for its 22 member organisations around the world.

The recruitment process for the new Managing Director is currently underway. In the interim Melissa Duncan, who has served as the Executive Director for four years, will occupy the Managing Director position until the recruitment process is complete.

Fairtrade thanks Sandra Uwera Murasa, who served as Global CEO since April 2022, for her contributions and service to Fairtrade International and members.
